I received the following message from A Peep that needs our help:
On Sunday, November 3rd, around 10:00-10:30 pm, my 16-year-old son, Devin, was out on his bicycle with my older son and friends when a vehicle suddenly swerved towards the group. The driver missed my older son but tragically struck Devin, sending him flying and leaving him severely injured on the road. Shockingly, the driver fled the scene without stopping to help.
Devin was rushed to Texas Children’s Hospital Downtown and has been there since. He is being treated for traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic amnesia, and short-term memory loss. He also sustained a fractured forehead, head lacerations requiring stitches, and was intubated at the scene, remaining on a ventilator for two and a half days. His doctors anticipate several more weeks of hospitalization and recovery.
A piece of the car was left at the scene, and we have information about the vehicle’s color and possible make. Officer Lonnie Hilson, who works nights, is leading this investigation, and we are also working with Crime Stoppers to spread the word.
If you have any information or witnessed anything on that night, please contact Officer Hilson. We need your help to identify this driver and bring them to justice for what they’ve done to Devin.
