75-YEAR-OLD WOMAN FATALLY SHOT WHILE COLLECTING ALUMINUM CANS ON GRIGGS RD.
Update on deadly shooting that happened around 11:15 AM yesterday, July 15, at 4000 Griggs Rd. A 75-year-old woman was shot multiple times and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect, 43-year-old Amber McNulty, has been charged with felon in possession of a weapon. She is not currently charged in the fatal shooting.
According to HPD, the victim was known for collecting aluminum cans and was picking up cans left out for her on an apartment porch. McNulty, who lived in that same apartment, put on a ballistic vest, grabbed a gun, and fired through a window — claiming she felt threatened and was trying to protect herself.
McNulty was detained without incident. HPD is still investigating, and additional charges may be filed.
