75 YEARS IN PRISON: JURY SENTENCES YOLAND J. WASHINGTON FOR THE MURDER OF DEUNDREA FORD

The jury has sentenced Yoland J. Washington to 75 YEARS IN PRISON for the murder of Deundrea Ford.

The sentence comes after a Harris County jury found Washington GUILTY of murder in the 496th Criminal District Court, where the case was heard before the Honorable Judge Dan Simons.

Deundrea disappeared in September 2023 after leaving her place of work along the East Freeway in Houston with a man in a white Ford Transit van.

Washington was later identified as a suspect and charged with Ford’s murder.

For months, Deundrea’s family was left without answers about where she was. Her remains were eventually discovered in Dallas in March 2024 and were later identified as belonging to Deundrea.

Now, after years of uncertainty and heartbreak, Deundrea’s family has received a measure of justice with Washington’s 75-year sentence.

I’ll be meeting with Deundrea family following today’s sentencing to hear their reaction to the verdict, the 75-year sentence, and what this moment means after their long fight for answers and justice.
