Bond Denied for Suspect Charged in Fatal Metro Bus Shooting on Richmond Avenue

Bond was denied today for Brayden Smith, the suspect charged in the fatal shooting of Caitlin Stup, and the wounding of a juvenile during an incident on a Metro bus near 10800 Richmond Avenue.
Smith is charged with murder in the 209th Criminal District Court. The bond denial was issued by Judge Brian E. Warren, who presides over that court.
The shooting occurred around 2:30 PM Wednesday (Jan. 7) after an argument between two male suspects escalated into gunfire while the bus was stopped to pick up passengers. Stup was struck by gunfire and transported by paramedics to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. A 16-year-old juvenile male was also injured in the shooting.
Investigators determined Smith fired the shots that struck both victims.
