Northeast Patrol and the Houston Fire Department responded to an accident scene off the East Freeway near Lockwood involving a wrong-way driver.
Police say a man was killed after his vehicle collided head-on with a red sedan, causing his car to erupt in flames. He was unable to escape and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the red sedan, a woman, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Police say it is currently unknown whether she will survive.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division was on the scene investigating.
