A Hood News Peep and her small children have been displaced from their townhome after part of the ceiling collapsed Monday evening, and as of Thursday, September 10, she says the situation has still not been resolved.
The family lives at the Townhomes at Brittmoore, located at 6547 Brittmoore Rd. in Houston.
According to the Hood News Peep, the ceiling initially collapsed Monday evening. She says the situation was immediately reported to property management, but today is day three and additional portions of the ceiling are continuing to collapse.
The mother says she has small children in the home, including a child with asthma. The family has now spent two nights in a hotel because of the condition of the townhome.
She says debris that fell from the ceiling has visible mold on it and that concerns about possible mold inside the property have been reported for months. She also says numerous other maintenance issues have previously been reported but have not been repaired.
The situation has now been reported to the City of Houston. The mother says she also provided management with documentation from her child’s doctor regarding concerns related to mold exposure dating back to April.
According to the mother, management previously told her there was not enough proof that mold was present inside the townhome. She says she has photographs, videos, messages, and recorded phone calls documenting the conditions inside the property as well as her repeated attempts to have the issues addressed.
In an update provided today, the mother says management told her they would be reaching out to the property’s general manager and hoped to make contact.
