Several Hood News Peeps have contacted me in messenger after receiving mailers titled “Texas Trans & LGBTQ+ Student Resource Guide.”
According to the messages received, some of these mailers were addressed to the homes of students as young as 5 years old.
Parents have shared photos of the materials and raised questions about how their children’s names and mailing addresses were obtained.
Another detail mentioned in several messages is the timing, as the mailers have reportedly been arriving around the start of early voting in Texas. Very suspicious.
At this time, it has not been independently confirmed who compiled the mailing lists or whether the distribution has any connection to election activities.
Sharing these reports for informational purposes only. The purpose of this post is to document what families have reported receiving (not to promote a political position or debate anyone’s personal beliefs).
TENT made it clear that it did not create, authorize, approve, or distribute any of these materials and that they are not affiliated with the organization.
In its statement, TENT said:
“These instances will not shake our commitment to the dignity and humanity of trans youth, trans Texans, their families, and their loved ones. Trans Texans belong here in Texas. This is our home, and we’re not going anywhere.”
The organization has not identified who is responsible for distributing the materials or sending the text messages.
The statement serves as a public clarification that the messages, brochures, and mailers circulating under similar branding are not official communications from TENT.
