Truck Struck by Train at Ave E 1/2 Crossing – No Injuries Reported
Alvin, Texas – At approximately 8:43 a.m. today, the Alvin Police Department dispatch received a call regarding an incident at the Ave E 1/2 railroad crossing. A commercial truck became stuck on the tracks and was subsequently struck by an oncoming train. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries.
The area is clearly marked with multiple warning signs in both English and Spanish indicating “Absolutely No Truck Crossing” due to the steep incline of the Ave E 1/2 railroad crossing. Despite the warnings, the driver proceeded, leading to this preventable incident.
The train remains immovable at this time, resulting in the closure of the railroad crossings at Ave E 1/2, Gordon, and Tovrea. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid the area while the situation is being addressed.
The City of Alvin Police Department, along with local officials, is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We urge all drivers, especially those operating large vehicles, to heed posted signage and exercise caution to avoid similar incidents in the future.
We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we manage this situation. Updates will be provided as they become available.
