Charles Victor Thompson, Convicted in 1998 Houston Double Murder, Scheduled for Execution

HAPPENING TODAY: The man responsible for a double murder in Houston is scheduled for execution Wednesday.
Charles Victor Thompson, 55, has spent nearly three decades on death row for the 1998 murders of Dennise Hayslip, his ex-girlfriend, and Darren Cain, her new boyfriend.
After the murders, Thompson was accused of hiring an undercover officer to kill a witness and recover the murder weapon during his trial. His story was the inspiration of the 2024 Netflix film “Hit Man,” starring Glen Powell.
Then in 2005, he escaped from the Harris County jail. He was arrested three days later in Shreveport, La, where he traveled by posing as a Hurricane Katrina evacuee.
KPRC 2’s Robert Arnold will witness the execution in Huntsville.
