Residents of the Estates of Legends Ranch neighborhood in Spring say two German shepherds have been roaming freely and terrorizing the area for several years.
According to residents, numerous complaints have been filed with law enforcement, the HOA and animal control. They say the dogs’ owners have repeatedly been warned but have failed to keep the animals properly contained.
The dogs have chased people walking through the neighborhood, approached residents checking their mail and gone after other pets. Many residents say they have changed their daily routines because they are afraid of being attacked.
The situation turned deadly when the German shepherds mauled and killed a neighbor’s small Yorkie. A witness said she saw the attack and ran to the dogs’ residence, screaming for the owners to intervene.
The Yorkie belonged to a foster family and served as a therapy dog for children in the home.
Residents say the German shepherds can get through the property’s gate, leaving neighbors afraid to approach the owners’ front door. Following years of complaints and warnings, residents are demanding to know what action will be taken before another animal or a person is seriously injured or killed.
