Detention Officer Charged with Aggravated Assault and Impersonating a Peace Officer

A Harris County detention officer, Micah Brown, was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of impersonating a peace officer after an incident involving teens setting off fireworks near his home. A Hood News Peep reached out with videos. This alleged incident happened on the night Friday, January 3 in a neighborhood park on Barkers Forest Lane.

Brown reportedly confronted the three teens, claiming to be a “cop” with the HCSO. As seen in the video, he became physical with a 16-year-old, knocking a phone out of their hand. Be allegedly then threatened the group by pulling a gun, chambering a round, and pointing it at them. Video evidence reportedly supports these claims.

When law enforcement arrived, Brown initially refused to come out of his home but eventually surrendered. Brown, who has been employed as a detention officer since 2022, has been placed on administrative leave by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The court has ordered Brown to abstain from firearms, alcohol, and contact with the complainants while the case is ongoing.
