DWI Arrest

Late last night around 10:20 PM, one of our officers was conducting a routine traffic stop on a yellow Mustang for speeding on US Hwy 59 North near the San Jacinto River bridge when a white Lexus sedan struck the officer’s vehicle that was on the side of the highway, with its red and blue emergency lights on. The impact trapped the officer inside the police car, but thanks to his quick thinking, he managed to break the window and escape.
The female driver of the Lexus was later found to be under the influence and was arrested for DWI. She is currently in custody.
Our officer was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since been released to rest at home. We wish him a speedy recovery and are thankful that he was able to safely escape this dangerous situation. The driver of the Mustang was unharmed and was able to go home after the crash.
