JURY DECISION: NOT GUILTY
Former Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Garrett Hardin has been found not guilty today in the 262nd District Court in connection with the July 2022 shooting death of 47-year-old Roderick Brooks during a response to a shoplifting incident on FM 1960. Hardin was removed from duty following a grand jury indictment about a year ago.
Hardin stated he acted in self-defense and that Brooks had grabbed his Taser during their struggle on the ground.
