Two Suspects Charged in Fatal Shooting of Tony Maximus Delao
Rodesha Smith (17) and Clint L. Gillespie (19) are charged with capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Tony Maximus Delao, who was found unresponsive in a vehicle at 9642 Intervale Street around 2:20 PM back on January 20.
Smith and Gillespie are both charged with capital murder in the 497th State District Court.
According to HPD investigators, Delao was discovered in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with at least one gunshot wound. Evidence suggests the shooting occurred at a nearby apartment complex at 9800 Hollock Street, and Delao managed to drive to Intervale Street before someone called 911. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigation led to the identification of Smith and Gillespie as suspects. Smith, already in custody on an unrelated charge, was charged with capital murder on July 29. Gillespie was arrested by HPD’s Southeast Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team on July 30 and booked into the Harris County Jail.
