Yesterday, a Hood News Peep reports that their 12-year-old child, who attends a Katy ISD school, did not exit the bus at his designated stop. After multiple calls to the district’s East Transportation office, the Hood News Peep was informed the system recorded the student as getting off the bus at 2:46 PM, but they state he was not there. For those asking about the time, the student attends Katy ISD Opportunity Awareness Center. Pickup starts at 6:20 drop off at 2:50 PM .
According to the Hood News Peep, attempts to reach the bus driver via dispatch were unsuccessful, and Katy ISD police were notified. Police reviewed bus camera footage and said they believed the student had exited, but the Hood News Peep maintained he had not. Officers began a search, and family members drove around for nearly two hours.
The student was eventually returned home by the bus. The Hood News Peep says the child had fallen asleep on board and was not located until the bus completed its route. They expressed concern that the bus was signed off as empty and said the incident caused emotional distress for the student and family.
