Harris County Sheriff’s Office homicide investigators are conducting an investigation after a man was found shot to death inside a motel room in the 15800 block of the East Freeway near Sheldon Rd in Channelview TX.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 11:13 AM, Deputies with Precinct 3 responded to the location to assist with serving a Blue Warrant, which is a parole warrant issued out of Louisiana. While on scene, deputies noticed a neighboring motel room with a broken window. When they went to investigate further, they entered the room and found a male deceased inside the bathroom. The man had apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit was called out and has since taken over the investigation. Investigators believe the victim is possibly in his 30s. Preliminary information indicates the victim had been staying at the motel and that at least three individuals arrived at the room at some point. Investigators believe an altercation occurred inside the room, though the exact timeline is still being determined.
Family members of the victim have arrived on scene and are being interviewed. Investigators are working to determine when the victim was last heard from, who he was communicating with, and what led up to the incident.
Deputies and homicide investigators are canvassing the motel, speaking with witnesses, and collecting surveillance video from the area. Several spent shell casings were found outside in the parking lot. Investigators are also looking into whether the broken window may have been caused by gunfire; however, that detail has not yet been confirmed and remains part of the ongoing investigation.
