On April 11, 2025, murder charges were filed against 41-year-old Derrick W. Foster in connection to the fatal shooting of 43-year-old Melvin Jackson on April 4 at 2599 Wheeler Avenue.
Melvin was found unresponsive in the roadway and pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an earlier argument at a nearby convenience store. Foster, who remains at large, was identified through further investigation.
