Parents are reaching out after a loaded gun was found on the Willis High School campus this morning. This is the second loaded gun incident.
According to a message sent to WHS families, a student reported a concern that led administrators to discover the loaded gun. The student connected to the weapon was identified and detained, and the gun has been confiscated.
The school was placed on a hold while School Resource Officers and administrators investigated.
Parents who reached out say they are concerned because this is not the first incident involving a weapon on campus. They want to know what changes will be made to help prevent another incident from happening.
This is also an important reminder for parents and guardians to stay involved and aware of what their children may be carrying. Check backpacks, bedrooms, vehicles and other belongings, and make sure firearms and other weapons in the home are properly secured and not accessible to children or teenagers.
