The trial of Destin Quintero began today in the 486th Criminal Court in Harris County. A jury was seated, and the start time was moved from 9 AM to 1 PM before Judge Aaron Burdette.Quintero was charged with MURDER in connection to the November 19, 2022, crash that killed 20-year-old Caleb Rickenbacher and seriously injured his girlfriend, Christina Diaz. Investigators said Quintero was driving a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee the wrong way on Cypress Rosehill near Huffmeister when the crash occurred. He fled on foot but was later arrested on January 9, 2023, following an investigation by Constable Mark Herman’s Office.
Court proceedings are being held at the Harris County Criminal Justice Center, 1201 Franklin St., 14th Floor, Houston.
With Caleb’s family and friends filling the courtroom, it was heartbreaking to watch the crash scene unfold through the deputy’s bodycam footage shown in court.
