A grand jury is expected to decide Monday whether to upgrade charges against Gonzalo Leon Jr. to capital murder in the killing of 11-year-old Julian Guzman.
If indicted, Leon could face life without parole — or the death penalty.
Investigators say Julian was shot last August while playing a neighborhood prank outside Leon’s home.
Leon’s attorneys are also challenging his $1 million bond, but that could change depending on the grand jury’s decision.
