Last night, officers with north patrol responded to a shooting at the Scottish Inn on Antoine near W. 34th Street.
The suspect was leaning against the doorway of a motel room that was rented by another man and refused to leave. Several renters nearby tried to get him to move along, but the suspect became agitated.
The suspect then pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking two people.
One victim, a man in his early 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another victim, a man in his mid-30s, was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle and is expected to survive.
Homicide detectives and crime scene units arrived at the scene to investigate.
Another male also fired at the suspect before fleeing the scene. Police are currently searching for him.
The suspect was later located by officers along with a K-9 unit and taken into custody.
