William Aguilar Sentenced to 45 Years for Murder of Carlos Perez at AutoZone in Montgomery County
Today, William Aguilar, 20, accepted a plea agreement and pled guilty to Murder for the fatal shooting of Carlos Perez, 19. Aguilar was sentenced to 45 years in TDCJ by Judge Phil Grant in the 9th District Court.
Back on December 21, 2024, at an AutoZone in Montgomery County, Carlos, who was a 19-year-old AutoZone employee, was working when Aguilar — a friend of his — entered the store and opened fire, killing him. Till this day, motive is unknown. Deputies with the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office responded to the scene and identified Aguilar as the shooter. He was taken into custody shortly afterward.
Carlos is remembered by family and friends as a kind and ambitious young man who dreamed of a career in the automotive industry. We joined the community at a candlelight vigil held for Carlos and so many people were there supporting him and his family.
Aguilar will be eligible for parole after serving half of his 45-year sentence.
