On Wednesday night, July 17th, 18-year-old Emmanuel returned home from work around 11:00 PM to bury his pet guinea pig. His 12-year-old brother, Evan, helped by using his phone as a flashlight. As they finished and walked toward the front of the house, three gunshots rang out.
Evan ran for cover—only to realize Emmanuel had been shot. Surveillance video shows Emmanuel walking to the door, wounded, as their neighbor’s door closes.
911 was called at 12:30 AM. Emmanuel remains in the ICU, intubated, recovering from serious injuries to his liver, lung, and diaphragm. So far, no arrests have been made. HPD Officers responded to the incident.
This family is asking for answers—and for justice.
“I will be the voice for my children,” Emmanuel’s mother says.
