HPD Seeks Suspects in Deadly 2023 Shooting on Bissonnet Street

Houston police have released surveillance video of two suspects wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of two men at 8900 Bissonnet Street around 5:35 p.m. on September 23, 2023.

The victims have been identified as Desmond Moore, 48, and Dester Chavez, 30. Photos of both men, along with video of the suspects and their vehicle, are included with this release.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Ponder, officers responded to a shooting call and found two men unresponsive with gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced both men dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Moore was the intended target, while Chavez was an innocent bystander caught in the gunfire. The suspects fled in a light-colored Nissan Sentra that has a broken door handle on the front passenger side door.
