Last night, a woman in her 40s was involved in a serious crash after her Ford Expedition was struck by a Union Pacific freight train while stopped on railroad tracks in the 800 block of Sampson near Harrisburg.
She was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Two pups that were inside the SUV were safely removed and taken to a shelter. The train crew was not injured.
It’s unclear why the vehicle was stopped on the tracks, and the incident remains under investigation.
