The biological aunt of the 13-year-old girl who was pronounced deceased Thursday after emergency personnel responded to a possible medical emergency has reached out in hopes of seeking answers about what happened.
According to the girl’s aunt, the child was in foster care at the time of her death. The family says the girl’s biological mother was not notified until Friday evening, when she received the news over the phone.
The family says CPS has not provided them with any additional information and that the child’s caseworker has not returned the biological mother’s calls. They are also seeking information about funeral arrangements so the girl’s biological family can attend her services and lay her to rest.
Relatives say the girl had no known medical conditions that would explain her sudden death. They believe the circumstances warrant a thorough investigation and are asking the appropriate agencies to provide the child’s biological mother with information regarding her daughter’s passing.
The exact cause and manner of death have not been officially released. No allegations against any individual have been confirmed, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death remains ongoing.
Regardless of her placement in foster care, this young girl had biological relatives who loved her dearly. Her family deserves to know what happened and to have the opportunity to attend her services.
