BREAKING NEWS: FORT BEND COUNTY TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR AND TWO EMPLOYEES FEDERALLY INDICTED
Fort Bend County Tax Assessor-Collector Carmen Patrice Turner and two of her employees are facing federal charges after investigators accused them of using taxpayer money for personal purposes.
According to the FBI Houston office, Turner allegedly used county payroll money to pay employees Shemerrylyn Regina Fields and Victor Calvin Ewing to care for her elderly mother and handle other personal duties while they were supposed to be working for the county.
Investigators also accuse Turner of telling the employees to lie on their timesheets to make it appear they were doing their regular county jobs.
All three have been federally indicted on charges involving conspiracy, theft of federal program funds, and wire fraud.
The investigation involved the FBI Houston Public Corruption team, Texas Rangers, and Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
