The City of South Houston Police Department arrested a tow truck driver after an incident involving an alleged unauthorized tow attempt from a residential driveway.
According to information provided, the tow truck driver attempted to remove a vehicle that belonged to a Hood News Peep. The vehicle was reportedly paid off, legally parked, and there was no permission or stated reason given for the tow. When the vehicle owner came outside and questioned the driver, no explanation was provided. During the attempt to tow the vehicle, front-end damage was allegedly caused.
A nearby good Samaritan blocked the tow truck to prevent it from leaving the area while authorities were contacted. Officers with the City of South Houston Police Department responded to the scene, conducted an investigation, and ultimately took the tow truck driver into custody.
Since the incident, Hood News Peeps in the neighborhood report seeing what appears to be a similar tow truck driving slowly through the area during nighttime hours. While no additional incidents have been reported, the activity has caused concern among residents, who are worried about the possibility of another unauthorized tow attempt.
At this time, the damages to the vehicle involved have not been paid for. Hood News Peeps say they are seeking accountability and don’t want this happening anymore.
