According to authorities, around 7:30 AM, Precinct 3 deputies attempted to apprehend a man wanted on a domestic violence warrant. Investigators had developed a plan to take him into custody after he left his residence.
When deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect refused to stop and drove back to his home, where he barricaded himself inside.
Authorities surrounded the residence and repeatedly ordered the suspect to come outside, but he refused to comply.
Investigators said the suspect had a history of violence, a military background, and was believed to have weapons inside the home. Deputies also confirmed that law enforcement had responded to the residence on previous occasions involving escalating violence.
Due to the potential danger, SWAT personnel were called to assist, and negotiators spent several hours attempting to convince the man to surrender peacefully.
The suspect’s wife was initially inside the residence but eventually came outside safely. She provided investigators with additional information, although authorities said they were still unable to confirm exactly where the suspect was hiding.
After several hours, tactical teams entered the residence and used a drone to search the attic, where they located the suspect.
Once authorities confirmed his location, they issued loud verbal commands ordering him to surrender. The suspect eventually complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
Officials confirmed that gas was deployed during the operation, and some damage was reported to the home, including the garage area.
Authorities emphasized that the situation could have ended tragically, especially given the suspect’s reported history of violence and access to weapons.
The suspect faces the original domestic violence warrant, and investigators are reviewing whether additional charges will be filed.
No injuries were reported during the apprehension, and authorities confirmed there was no ongoing danger to nearby residents
