23-year-old José Luis Torres Jr’s family is facing an unthinkable situation and is pleading for help and prayers as they fight for his life.
José was shot in the head on October 26 in Groves, TX and has remained in critical condition ever since. He is currently hospitalized in Beaumont, where doctors are doing all they can, but his condition requires a higher level of specialized care. Despite the difficult updates, his family says he continues to hold on.
Loved ones are gathered at his bedside and praying for a miracle. They are looking for ways to get him the medical help he urgently needs. The family is now appealing for assistance in transferring José from Beaumont to Houston, where hospitals like Ben Taub and UTMB Health could provide more advanced treatment for his severe injuries.
“We know hospitals are under immense pressure, but time is critical,” his brother said. “We’re asking Ben Taub Hospital and UTMB Health to please review his case and consider accepting him so he has the best possible chance at recovery.”
Police have identified a 17-year-old as the suspected shooter. Due to his age at the time of the incident, his name has not been released, but authorities say he may face adult charges. Another man, 21-year-old Brian Herrera Gonzalez, was reportedly with the teen during the shooting and is also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Gonzalez has since been released on bond.
Please keep José and his family in your prayers. If anyone has any guidance, please provide it in the comments as they will be on the lookout for any feedback that can help them.
