Yesterday at Theiss Elementary (Klein ISD), a 7-year-old student was injured during recess after another child ran up from behind and struck him while he was playing soccer. The school confirmed the incident was captured on video. No staff appeared to intervene during the altercation.
The student’s parents asked if charges could be filed, but were informed that because of the other child’s age, that is not an option. They also requested a written incident report, but were told one could not be provided. School staff have said they will take steps to keep the children separated.
The family has expressed concern about the level of aggression displayed in this incident and, based on what they’ve heard from other parents, believe similar behavior may have happened before. They are seeking guidance from the community on what steps can be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all students when situations like this occur.
