Richardson Mortuary Given 14 Days to Pass Inspection Following Disturbing Incident
Richardson Mortuary on Brookfield Dr in the Hiram Clarke neighborhood has been ordered to shut down immediately and must pass inspection within 14 days to resume operations.
The action follows an incident where a young man and his sister, searching for their deceased mother, recorded a disturbing video of the mortuary’s conditions. After locating their mother, they were asked to leave, and the young man was reportedly stabbed by a mortuary employee.
The video sparked public outrage and prompted a state investigation. People checking on their deceased loved ones reported that deceased individuals were not properly stored at the mortuary, with strong odors of decomposition, visible gnats, and multiple bodies left out without proper covering or refrigeration.
If the mortuary fails to comply, it could face daily fines and potential permit revocation.
