USPS EMPLOYEE ARRESTED IN LEAGUE CITY MAIL THEFT INVESTIGATION

A USPS employee was arrested around 3:22 PM Thursday in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 1600 block of W. League City Pkwy. following a joint mail theft investigation.
League City police said 46 year-old Richard Ybanez of Bacliff TX is accused of stealing between 10 and 30 pieces of mail. Detectives worked with agents from the USPS Office of Inspector General for approximately one week before taking him into custody.
Ybanez was charged with felony mail theft, and his bond was set at $5,000. Although federal investigators assisted, police only announced a state felony charge.
Authorities have not released details about the mail involved, whether it was recovered, or how many customers may have been affected. The investigation remains ongoing.
