Overnight, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 4000 block of Cicada Lane, near Lauder Road and JFK Boulevard.
According to preliminary information, a male possibly fired shots as deputies were arriving. The male occupant was reportedly armed and barricaded inside a room with a female. The two were in a dating relationship and share a child.
Deputies safely evacuated other occupants from the home. HCSO SWAT was called to the scene.
After receiving no response, SWAT members entered the room and found a female deceased from a gunshot wound. The male was also found with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The male was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
