Last night, a 70-year-old man was shot during a violent robbery near Beltway 8 and Westview, outside the Walmart.
The suspect forced the elderly man to withdraw money from an ATM before shooting him. After being shot, the victim tried to drive away but lost control of his vehicle and crashed on the service road off the Katy Freeway near West Houston Parkway.
The man passed out inside his vehicle until a tow truck driver came across the scene and called 911, getting him the help he needed.
The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Westside Patrol and HPD Robbery Division is investigating and searching for the suspect(s) responsible.
