On December 22, 2025, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a plane crash near the base of the causeway. Sheriff’s Office personnel, including the Dive Team, Crime Scene Unit, Drone Unit, and Patrol Division, were deployed and are assisting at the scene.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is the lead agency overseeing the crash investigation, with support from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and the Galveston Police Department. The incident remains under investigation, and additional details will be released as they become available.
