Conroe Police responded to a disturbance at the McDonald’s on League Line Road yesterday afternoon after an 18-year-old man was reportedly experiencing a mental health crisis and making suicidal statements while sitting in a car.
Police said the man was armed with several knives and refused to get out of the car. Officers, SWAT, and negotiators spent about two hours trying to peacefully resolve the situation while the man allegedly made “s•icid3 by cop” statements.
The standoff ended when officers used less-lethal rounds to remove him from the vehicle and take him into custody. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation under an Emergency Detention Order.
While at the hospital, police say the man became combative and made threats toward officers. He is now facing a third-degree felony retaliation charge and will be booked into the Montgomery County Jail once medically cleared.
No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.
