Emergency crews are on the scene of a major crash involving an Amtrak passenger train and an 18-wheeler near U.S. 90 and Cravens Road.
The train was carrying 93 passengers and 11 crewmembers traveling from Los Angeles to New Orleans, Amtrak officials said.
Sky 2 helicopter captured video showing an Amtrak train with significant front-end damage, including a shattered windshield.
Passengers were seen being escorted onto METRO buses — officials confirm buses were brought in to help those displaced by the crash. Two people were treated at the scene for minor medical emergencies.
The cause of the crash remains unclear.
