Deer Park Woman Charged After Dog Found Dead and Mutilated Inside Home

Ashley Quinn Pagel, 31, of Deer Park has been charged with felony cruelty to a non-livestock animal after court records say she killed and mutilated her dog inside her home.

According to court documents, authorities responded to Pagel’s residence on E. Amherst Lane on April 14, 2026, after a family member contacted authorities over several disturbing phone calls.

Court records state Pagel allegedly made alarming statements involving her 6-year-old son during the calls. The family member later went to the home and discovered the family dog, an 8-year-old miniature poodle named “Evie,” deceased inside the residence.

According to the charging documents, the dog had suffered severe injuries after death, and witnesses reported Pagel was attempting to remove portions of the animal’s skin.

Court records state a necropsy performed by the Houston Humane Society found evidence consistent with trauma prior to death. The official cause of death was listed as undetermined, though drowning or another form of asphyxia was considered a possible factor.

Pagel is charged with third-degree felony cruelty to a non-livestock animal. She awaits her day in court with a $20,000 bond.
