Mr. Fidel Estrada Lopez’s family is asking Hood News Peeps for help after he tragically died following a hit-and-run early Sunday morning, November 16, 2025, around 6 AM on 53rd Street and Avenue R.
Mr. Fidel was on his way to work, riding his bike, when he was struck by a white or silver pickup truck. The truck should have front-end damage, including broken headlights from the impact. The driver kept going toward the Seawall and never stopped to help. A Good Samaritan who witnessed the incident called 911 and stayed with him until help arrived.
Fidel was taken to UTMB around 6:50 AM, but sadly, he did not survive his injuries.
His family is pleading with Hood News Peeps to come forward with any information that could help identify the driver who failed to stop and help their loved one. Everyone please check your cameras if you live in the area. If you know anything, please reach out to Galveston PD.
