Harris County Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help locating Johnathan Michael Barnes, who is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that happened in north Harris County.
According to investigators, the shooting happened on July 25, 2026, outside the 1960 Korner Store, located at 17013 Nanes Drive.
Investigators say Barnes was backing out of a parking space when another man approached the driver’s-side window of his vehicle. Authorities allege Barnes then shot the man once in the chest before leaving the scene. The victim later died.
Barnes is now wanted on a murder charge. A criminal charge is an accusation, and Barnes is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Authorities say Barnes is known to frequent the Cypress Station area, including areas around FM 1960 and Kuykendahl Road. Investigators also believe he may have changed his appearance by shaving his beard and hair.
