Yesterday, my 6-year-old brother and I were at Hunters Ridge Park (2800 Brookdale Dr, Kingwood, TX) when I noticed a woman approaching a family on the basketball court, wielding a large kitchen knife and making threats against them and their small children. Concerned for our safety, I immediately got my brother and left the area, calling the police once we reached my street nearby.
I also alerted neighbors in the nearby cul-de-sac, as they had children playing outside. They intervened to help before the police arrived. Neighbors stepped in, along with another witness who took a video of the incident. Although police detained the woman, she was unfortunately released shortly after, according to witnesses.
This is a heads-up for anyone visiting Hunters Ridge Park in Kingwood. Stay alert and safe!
