Houston Methodist Employee Sues TMC, Citing Security Failures After Violent Assault

LAWSUIT FILED: The Houston Methodist employee violently attacked in a Texas Medical Center parking garage in May has filed a lawsuit, claiming TMC’s operational failures led to her physical and mental injuries.

Photos in the lawsuit show the injuries Baleigh Burmaster sustained early the morning of May 11 when she arrived for work. The suspect, Perry Green, was later identified and arrested after allegedly stabbing her multiple times and zip-tying her hands together.
“Due to Defendant TMC’s failure to monitor and secure Parking Garage 1, maintain its surveillance systems, maintain adequate lighting, and deploy physical security personnel, Plaintiff’s cries for help went unanswered. Due to these same failures, her attacker was able to enter the garage unnoticed, traverse the garage unnoticed, lay his trap unnoticed, and carry out the attack unnoticed. Plaintiff was subjected to torture under grueling circumstances and was forced to heroically engineer her own escape without assistance. This attack could have happened to any
vulnerable employee or visitor on Defendant TMC’s premises,” the lawsuit states.
